The New York Pops Opening Night for their 32nd Season

Last friday was The New York Pops Opening Night for their 32nd Season at Carnegie Hall. I was thrilled to be there to photograph the concert that was conducted by the handsome and charming and very talented Steven Reineke and included the amazing Finnish cappella ensemble Rajaton. The group of six bought to life the words of the Beatles songs and together with the orchestra they created an uplifting and exciting evening of music and voices.
The first half was devoted to the songs of Abby Road and I loved hearing their interpretation of many of my favorite songs while the second half focussed on the Beatles top hits. It was hard to sit still and I found my feet tapping along with all the familiar tunes.
After the concert was over the audience was invited to join the cast across the street for cocktails and appetizers. For the small fee of $125 happy guests got to mingle with the performers and enjoyed meeting new people while a portion of the ticket price was donated to the Pops Educational program.

ABT Fall Gala 2014

Last Wednesday October 22nd 2014 was the ABT Fall Gala at Lincoln Center. I was there for Quest Magazine and as always it was a great group of people to photograph.

I often get asked if any one ever makes me weak at the knees when I work and the answer is no not usually but I have to say when Chris Noth looked up and caught my eye I though I was having a true Sex in the City moment. Where were the cameras and the director. Where was the script that said he would then come over and ask the photographer to dance?

Luckily for my knobby knees that script was not written and I managed to continue on photographing the likes of the beautiful Leslie Ziff, Misty Copeland, Nigel and Cristen Barker, Andrew Martin Weber, Idre Rockefeller, Gillian Miniter, Christian Siriano, Deborah Roberts, Chiu-Ti Jansen, Hanna Bronfman, Jean Shafiroff, Caryn Zucker, Susan Fales-Hill, Star Jones, Julia Loomis, Kevin Mc Kenzie, Anna Tatlock, Rachel Moore, Fe Fendi, Hamish Bowles, Marcelo Gomez  and a host of others. On Tuesday night I attended the CCBF Breakthrough Ball at The Plaza Hotel. CCBF stands for Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation and the event raised over one million dollars for children in need.
The evenings honoree was Vince Tese and after the live auction that included a trip to Italy that I wish I could have bid on and tickets to the super bowl that sounded like fun the evening ended with the guests  dancing as Alumni from Broadway's Jersey Boys rocked the Plaza ballroom.

Yesterday Jo Lawry came over for a visit with my second shooter Mike Kelly. He has been wanting me to meet her as we are both Australian.
Jo is about to release a new record before she goes back out on the road again early next year with Sting so I took then opportunity to take some photos of her.

I am very excited to share this story that appeared in Quest Magazine. People often ask me what it was like modeling in the 80's and being part of the Eileen Ford Agency in NY.
Here is a little snippet with photos from my modeling assignments that took me from Sydney to Tokyo then on to Milan, Paris, Hamburg and finally NY.
I never set out with the intention of becoming a photographer however every step of my life has lead me in that direction.
Many thanks to Daniel Cappello who came up with the idea of this story and then made it happen. Thanks to Lily Hoagland who interviewed me and wrote the story. Also thanks to Thelma Garcia who helped me with the self portraits and where I could not hold the remote clicked the camera for me.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and all the best for 2015.

May 8th 2014 was The New York City Ballet Spring Gala 2014  in the David H. Koch Theater celebrating the company’s 50 years at Lincoln Center.
The evening included  the world premiere of Justin Pecks new ballet called Everywhere We Go. Kristen Bell was also there and performed excerpts from Carousel
After the performances dinner was served.
The beautiful building was brought to life by DeJaun Stroud and his very talented team. There were amazing chandeiers hanging above the guests that filled the space with a soft glow. The tables had different centerpieces that were made up of white flowers and low candles.
Vacheron Constantin were the sponsors of the evening and many of the dancers were wearing watches and were more than happy to show them off.

Last night at a dinner at the beautiful Rancho Valencia just out side of San Diego Hope Funds for Cancer Research announced that they had received a gift of $1.5 million dollars from San Diego residents Antonio Grillo-Lopez and his wife Maria. The evening started with a panel discussion followed by dinner under the stars. For many of the east coast attendees it was a welcome reprieve from the cold east coast weather.

The School of American Ballet Dinner

I am always so happy when the weather is still so cold to be reminded that Spring is on it's way. That was how I felt when I walked up to the dinner level at the David Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the School of American Ballet Event.
The very talented team from  Ron Wendt Design had filled the tables with beautiful spring flowers and echooed the colors by suspending shear colored panels from the very high ceiling. I spotted Ron and Philip with Julia Koch who looked absolutly stunning in her white gown.
The sponsor for the event  Van Cleef and Arpels had an array of beautiful jewels on a group lovely models who stood around like mannequins during the cocktails.
At one point I turned around only to discover I was standing beside Chelsea Clinton and her husband as they chatted to Peter Martins and his wife. They all graciously posed for a photo.
I am always so happy to see Gillian Miniter and her husband Sylvester. They always find time to stop for a quick chat and I love hearing about their adventures and travels.
Coco Kopleman and her daughter Jill Kargman were both stunning in black and white as was Lisa Perry. To see all the images please click on this link  View all photos
