Last night was the Ballet Hispanico Spring Gala at the Plaza Hotel 2014. It is always one of the most fun events because children of all ages come from the Ballet School to dance for the guests as well as the Ballet Company Dancers.
It is so amazing to see the kids perform and to recognize some of them from earlier years.
This year the evening raised over One Million Dollars and the Ford Foundation made an additional donation of One point five Million Dollars towards the Capitol Campaign. The building on the Upper West Side is going to see a full make over so that it can expand its programs for dance and education.

Last night I got to shoot the Red Carpet Arrivals at the Ballet Hispanico Spring Gala 2014 at the Plaza Hotel.
The guests started to arrive around 7 and it was impossible to tell it was raining outside from the smiles on their faces. Here are the step and repeat photos. My Friend Belinda wanted to know where the name Step and Repeat came from. I am guessing that it is because the guests and celebrities stop and smile for the first few photographers then take a few steps and stop and smile for the next few photographers until they have walked the length of the red carpet. Last night although there was no RED Carpet there was a backdrop and I had fun getting everyone to stop and smile for me.

Sunday night was the annual Dinner on Stage at The Met Opera House in NY. What an amazing experience to be able to sit on the stage surrounded by such a beautiful backdrop while rubbing elbows with some of the most beautiful people and talented opera singers in the world.
Sometimes I have to pinch myself to realise that I am actually there and the is not some movie I am watching curled up on my sofa.

The Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon At the Central Park Conservancy Garden fondly known as the Central Park Hat Lunch

Every May I keep my fingers crossed that the weather will be perfect for just one day and that day was yesterday. It was bliss. The reason was The Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon At the Central Park Conservancy Garden fondly known as the Central Park Hat Lunch.
England has Ascot, Kentucky has the Derby and we in NY have the once a year luncheon in the park where women pull out their spring wardrobe, put on their highest heels and biggest hats and manage to walk down a flight of stairs to enter the Conservancy Garden with grace and style.
This year the waiters were on hand to escort the women down.
There were flowers and ribbons, butterflies and birds, inspiration from the museums along 5th Ave and from Central Park itself.
Mr Bloomberg was this years honoree and he was all smiles sitting at a table of women with hardly a man in sight.
It was fun seeing everyone looking so colorful and we were all happy that the weather was perfect.

May 8th 2014 was The New York City Ballet Spring Gala 2014  in the David H. Koch Theater celebrating the company’s 50 years at Lincoln Center.
The evening included  the world premiere of Justin Pecks new ballet called Everywhere We Go. Kristen Bell was also there and performed excerpts from Carousel
After the performances dinner was served.
The beautiful building was brought to life by DeJaun Stroud and his very talented team. There were amazing chandeiers hanging above the guests that filled the space with a soft glow. The tables had different centerpieces that were made up of white flowers and low candles.
Vacheron Constantin were the sponsors of the evening and many of the dancers were wearing watches and were more than happy to show them off.

Last night was the 2014 MOMA Party in the Garden and was I happy that it didn't rain. I arrived nice and early so I could get some shots before the guests arrived.
Everyone was excited by the list of guests that included Daniel Craig, Madonna and Leonardo DiCaprio.
I was happy to see lots of friends and familiar faces.
Daniel was receiving an award for his contribution to the arts and was escorted on the red carpet by Marie-Josée Kravis. The other 2 were very discrete and arrived after the guests were seated for dinner. I had heard rumors that Leonardo is extremely camera shy and they turned out to be true. He came hiding under a cap. I snapped a photo or two but realized he was better off being left alone. Daniel on the other hand was charming and happy to be photographed. Madonna was really cool. When I asked her could I take a photo she told me it would cost me. Sorry I did not ask her how much but probably just as well cause who knows what amount she would have said. Wished I had had a dollar in my pocket!
It was also the eve of David Rockefeller's 99th Birthday. I hope he has a wonderful day today.
Happy Birthday Mr Rockefeller.

Last night was The 10th Annual Notable Occasion at Carnegie Hall. I arrived early to photograph the Bulgari Family on stage with the musicians before the event began.
There is something so amazing to stand on the stage and look out at the theater and so I felt so great being able to take photos there.
After the concert the party moved across the street where everyone got to mix and mingle with old friends and new.

Five on 5” Summer Intern Lecture Series with Sarah Hall Productions

A few weeks ago I was invited to speak to nine summer interns doing work experience with Sarah Hall Productions.
I have known Sarah since I moved to NY as she was my first booker when I was modeling at Ford. Now she runs one of the most successful PR agencies here in NY.
The idea behind the Five on 5” Summer Intern Lecture Series is to introduce the interns to a range of people to help deepen their understanding of Public Relations, brand building and goal setting.
I have spoken for several years about my work as a wedding photographer but this year I realized I wanted to change it up.
Now that I have my new studio in Chelsea I thought it would be much more fun for everyone to have a hands on experience in front of the camera and to then show them how the photos could be put to work. I am curious to see what they all come up with and how they use their portraits.
This is what I do. I like to blog.
I shoot mostly real people and my hope is to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera at a party, at a wedding, for a magazine shoot or a business meeting or corporate event.
For PR this is so important cause often clients are normal every day people who have written a book or invented a product that needs promoting and they are overwhelmed by the thought of having to have a professional photo taken.
So here are the shots from today. In less than an hour everyone got a chance to spend time in front of the camera, ask questions, hold the fan ( a very important job when it comes to blowing the hair) play DJ with my trusted Pandora and lastly to be in the group shot that Sarah's son snapped from the tripod that I had set up for him. Hayden if you ever wan to be my assistant let me know!
PS that is a selfie of me with Sarah in the second row and Thelma my right hand is holding the fan.

It is always incredible  to photograph a beautiful wedding. It takes so much work to organize such a wonderful day and in the case of Alexandra and Benjamin they turned towards Harriette Rose Katz and her staff at Gourmet Associates to take care of all the little details.
It was truly amazing walking into Cipriani 42nd st. The space was transformed into a wonderland of flowers and candles.
Here are the pages from the up coming issue of Grace Ormonde where the wedding is featured.

This week was the Lincoln Center Philharmonic 2014 Fall Gala and I was so happy to be the house photographer. I got there nice and early and the first guest to arrive was the most beautiful Karen LeFrack. Back from China where The Chinese Philharmonic had just performed one of her compositions ( I confess I didn't know she wrote music) she looked stunning and relaxed. We had a chance to chat and we both shared how much we both enjoy the time at an event before all the guests arrive.
Woody Allen was seated beside her at the dinner and so many guests made there way over to say hello.
I watched the concert from the offices upstairs where I was bust downloading the cocktail photos and getting them out to the press then I raced over to the dinner just before the curtain came down.
What a beautiful night.

Last week I had the great pleasure to shoot  The NY Metropolitan Opera Fall Gala 2014 at Lincoln Center. Arriving at 5 I was just in time to catch the first arrivals as they headed up to the second floor for cocktails before the opera.
As always it was a sea of gowns and gorgeous people.
I watched the opera outside on the plaza with people who were lucky to be enjoying the free tickets.
Afterwards the guests went into the tent designed by David Stark for the dinner.

Today I got to swing by Leyla Rose for Quest Magazine to check out the new collection of Bridal Wear.
I was amazed to see there was not one strapless gown in her new collection. That makes life really great for future brides who will not be tugging all night on their dresses and pulling them up every time they move.
Here is a sneak peak of what is in store for the new season.
